India’s number 1 woman bodybuilder Thingbaijam Sarita won the Senior Women’s Body Building National Championship 2017 which was held at at Gurgaon, Haryana under the organization of Haryana Body Building and Fitness Association and District Amateur Body Building Federation from 2nd to 4th March 2017.
Sarita who recently won senior national women’s title last month (February 18 to 19) at the 7th Junior / Masters / Physically Challenged and Senior Men’s Sports Physique / Women’s Sport Model and Women’s Bodybuilding National Championship 2017 at Indore, Madhya Pradesh and won the title of ‘Woman of India’ won the Miss India 2017 title in women’s open category at the 10th Senior Men’s & Women’s Body Building & 5th Men’s & Women’s Physique Sports National Championship 2017 which took place from March 2 to 4 in Haryana. Yumnam Mamota who also won several medals for India won runner up title in the category. The second runner up position was won by the youngest Indian woman national bodybuilding medalist Europa Bhowmik of West Bengal. Miss Manipur 2016 Wangkhem Jamuna who won second runner up in the Indore edition last month also participated representing Manipur in the championship.
The mother of two Thingbaijam Sarita won her first senior national women’s bodybuilding title last year as well. With this, she has become the first Indian woman bodybuilder to make hat-trick titles in bodybuilding. A very big achievement by a mother!
In the championships, Nongmaithem Sarbo Singh won his 5th senior Mr India title in men’s 75kg, Thiyam Dayananda bagged his first senior title in men’s 85kg and Khuraijam Pritam won 5th position in men’s 90kg category.
