IMPHAL, Aug 13:  A number of mistakes have been detected in the results of the Primary teachers examination for the six autonomous district council (ADC) held on December 29, 2009 for Persons with Disabilities and November 11, 2009 for the general category. The joint results were declared on April 21, 2010.

The government had notified 3280 posts for selection, but it was found that there was a excess of candidates selected as 3618 posts were declared selected for the posts. The excess was 338 posts which were all for able persons. It was also found that for the people with disabilities the actual reserved posts are not filled up properly.

The six ADCs were supposed to have 98 posts for disabled persons but it was found that only 63 had been selected by the examining authorities. It was also found that some of the disabled candidates were holding fake disability certificates along with some who had not registered their names at the Employment Exchange.

The All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) held an press meet in this regard today at their office at Nagaram in Imphal where the body’s president Momo Tantanga called for the facts to be laid bare before the public failing which the body would be forced to take legal action against the authorities. It also said that it was clear from the government’s apathy that it was not interested in giving equality and protection to the rights of the disabled.

It may be mentioned that in Chandel district 97 excess candidates have been appointed, in Churachandpur 29, in Kangpokpi 23, Ukhrul 45, Tamenglong 133 and Senapati 16.

The ATDUM has called for a CBI enquiry to be initiated to probe the excessive appointment in the general category and the shortfall in the quota for the physically handicapped persons in every ADC. Such a contravention compromised on the rights of the people with disabilities, it said while demanding that no excess appointees should be given working salaries in order to prevent a repetition of the problems of 2006 ADC Primary Teachers’ recruitment.

The excess appointees should be kept null and void, it said adding that there are some discrepancies in the appointment of handicapped persons also as the documents of such candidates had not been verified properly.

The ATDUM has also served summon to 15 persons asking them to come with their original documents for further verification by August 20.

The body also said that an application had been made to the principal secretary (Hills) but the concerned authorities had failed to respond properly to the application.
