IMPHAL, Sep 5: “There is no real opposition in Manipur as all will know that no concrete voice of dissent is raised in the Manipur Legislative Assembly sittings, which shows that the SPF government is doing a good job in the overall development of the state,” stated Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee member and ex-candidate in the 2007 state Assembly elections from Langthabal Assembly constituency L.Tilotama today at a Block Congress Committee meeting held at Hiyangthang.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board, MLA E.Dwijamani, MLA of Thanga constituency T.Mangibabu and other newly elected unit president and delegates along with Congress workers of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Tilotama further stated that the Congress party has brought stability and economic progress in the nation and the times were gone when uneducated politicians held center stage.
She appealed to the gathering that if one is a worker of the Congress party then he or she must be equipped with knowledge of the developmental works undertaken in the state and the flagship programmes launched nationwide so that when anyone blames the Congress for some failure they could properly educate them.
Speaking at the meeting, T. Mangibabu stated that the failure of the BJP is that the party politics is based on religion, which caused insecurity in a secular nation like India. He further stated that the UPA is a Congress party led government after the coalition with the communists ended, but in Manipur the Congress is still going along with the communists and cannot tell anyone to leave, putting the onus on the latter if it wishes to throw in the towel on party principles.
The meeting was held today at the residence of Ch. Priyokumar, the newly elected block member of Hiyangthang and speculations are rife from the meeting proceedings that he could be awarded the Congress ticket for the upcoming 2012 state elections.
