IMPHAL, Sept 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charge sheet before the Court in Darjeeling, West Bengal under relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code and Unlawful activities (Prevention) Act, against the seven accused persons including Ningthoujam Tomba, the self styled Commander-in-chief of the unlawful terrorist organization Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL), Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha, Rama Chanu Sorokhybam Menjor Singh, Neera Tamang and the absconding Kangujam Rabi Singhon September 8, 2010.
A PIB release said the NIA had on April 24, 2010 registered a case (Crime No. 06/2010) pertaining to the arrest of Ningthoujam Tomba alias Koireng alias Rajen along with his three lady associates namely, Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha and Roma Chanu on March, 14, 2010 in Darjeeling district.
Investigation of the case was entrusted to a special team headed by a Superintendent of Police, the PIB release added.
The NIA team conducted investigation at various places in West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Delhi and Karnataka. The team examined large number of witnesses, got forensic analysis of several seized electronic gadgets and documents done and interrogated the arrested accused persons.
Investigation revealed that Ningthoujam Tomba, the Commander-in-chief KYKL had established a safe house and base camp for his terrorist activities in North Bengal with the help of other co-accused persons namely S Menjor, Neera Tamang and K Rabi Kumar.
Tomba, was also found to be involved in establishing a base camp for KYKL in Kurseong, Darjeeling, the release added.
