IMPHAL, Sep 9: The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup (WCAL) has made a stand to scan films, songs, drama etc. which is produced for commercial purposes by taking advantage of any major incident which occured in the state.

A release jointly signed by WCAL functionaries A.Langdon Leima, Sunil Karam and Phulindro Konsam states that the film “Ingengi 23“ based on the July 23rd of 2009 incident in which Ch.Sanjit and Th.Rubina were killed and several were wounded is a sentimental issue which should not be represented in the wrong light.

The WCAL had decided to preview the film and had approached the director E. Ajitkumar about a month and half back. There was no proper response from the film makers and WCAL learned that the preview would be held on the 8th September. In this regard WCAL had again repeated their request yesterday and had waited till 5 pm.

As there no cooperation, the WCAL resolved to ban the screening of the film till the film have been veiwed and scrutinised. The statement further appealed to the concerned artists, film directors, writers to give their cooperation to the Apunba Lup.
