IMPHAL, Oct 21: Besides players and technical experts from Manipur who have excelled at the recently concluded 19th Common Wealth Games held in New Delhi, a Manipuri lady physiotherapist currently working in New Delhi had a rare opportunity to serve the sportspersons coming from different countries during the course of the Common Wealth Games, 2010.
Soubam Prabha Devi, a bachelor of physiotherapy (BPT) from SIMS College of Physiotherapy, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, was the lone Manipuri physiotherapist selected for rendering medical service at the biggest sporting event ever held in the country, the CWG 2010.
Prabha was posted at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range where she had rendered commendable service as a physiotherapist to the shooters from different countries including the ace shooters Abhinav Bindra, Gagan Narang, Rajan Shodhi, Samrash, Heena,Tejeshwani and others who have bagged several medals for the country.
She is currently working as a physiotherapist at Aman Hospital, Tagore Garden, New Delhi, and had also worked as consultant physiotherapist at Tagore Hospital, Tagore Garden, Gold’s Gym, Rajouri Garden, and Phyaction Physical and Fitness Centre, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi.
Prabha had also attended several national seminars on physiotherapy held at Kolkata, AIIMS, New Delhi, and Vijayawada. She is also pursuing P.G. Diploma in hospital administration from Medversity, Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad.
She is the daughter of S.Manidutta Singh of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai, presently staying at 2nd Bn. Manipur Rifles Family Quarter, Imphal.
Speaking to IFP, Prabha said, “I had the rarest opportunity to serve many international players at the Common Wealth Games recently concluded in New Delhi. My experience about the games was very nice and healthy. My posting venue was Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range where shooters like Abhinav Bindra , Gagan Narang ,Rajan Shodhi, Samrash, Heena ,Tejeshwani and others who have brought laurels for the country by winning gold, silver and bronze medals regularly visited to our physiotherapy department for their treatmentâ€.
“The Delhi CWG was indeed a great sporting event for the Manipuris. Our seven sisters and brother from Manipur have clinched three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals at the CWG making the Manipuris feel proud in the whole worldâ€, she added.
