AZSU flays AR action

IMPHAL, Nov 7: The All Zeliangrong Students’ Union, AM&N has strongly decried the operation launched by the 11th Assam Rifles in which a house at Khopoum, Nungba Sub-Division under the Tamenglong District was ransacked.
According to the general secretary of the union, the AR troops during a search operation sneaked into an empty house through a broken portion of the wall when they found the door locked and broke open an almirah and whisked away cash amounting to Rs. 1.5 lakhs belonging to M.Aniampi, w/o Kabibuan of Khopum Duithanjang.
It has while condemning the act of the AR who have been untamed for a long time and whose reputation has been dotted with such instances, has also alleged that the AR destroyed some household things in the house in the incident.
The act of robbery came to light and was confirmed only the next morning when the couple returned from Tamenglong. Further, the AZSU also stated that the AR arrested Paul Phaomei of Gaidimjang village an ex-NSCN-IM cadre without warrant and entered the houses of NSCN-IM cadres intimidating their families in a bid to know the whereabouts of their respective husbands. The AZSU (AMN) has strongly urged the concerned authority to pull up the personnel involved in the crime and take up befitting action against them, added the release.
