IMPHAL, Nov 27: In order to conduct accurate and perfect revision of the electoral rolls as per the directives from the Election Commission of India, the state government had recently appointed five IAS officers working in the state on super time scale officers as electoral roll observers for the different districts of the state.
According to an official order issued by the state chief electoral officer, O Nabkishwore Singh, IAS, Principal Secy. (Com. & Industries) was appointed as electoral observer of of Senapati and Tamenglong districts, Ram Muivah, IAS Principal Secy.
(Works) as electoral observer of Thoubal and Imphal East districts, H Imocha Singh, IAS, Commissioner (Transport/IFCD) as electoral observer of Churachandpur district, Moses Chalai, IAS, Commissioner (Hr. Edn & Horti) as electoral observer of Bishnupur and Imphal West districts, and KK Chhetry, IAS,Commissioner (Tourism) as electoral observer of Ukhrul and Chandel district repectively.
The order of the state chief electoral officer further mentioned that, the above elected electoral roll observers are appointed to observe the revision process, help the DEOs/EROs in taking timely corrective measures and also to report the progress thereaof to the commission regularly.
They are to visit each district under their charge at least three times during the period of revision.
The order further mentioned that the first visit will be during the period of receipt of claims and objections between October 30 to November 23 and second visit will be during the period of disposal of claims and objections by the EROs between November 24 to December 23 next month and third visit will be will be on by final publication of the roll on January next year.
The order also advised the appointed electoral roll observers to visit some of the polling stations and also to conduct specific meeting with the political parties and also fix a time and place for meeting during their official visits, the official order added.
