IMPHAL, Nov 1: A state cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 3pm under the chairman of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, at his official bungalow is likely to discuss the current issue of modification of road width as proposed by the state PWD Manipur.
According to an official source, the proposed cabinet meeting will also discuss various other agendas including procurement of equipments in respect of JNIMS as proposed by the state health department, regularization of 306 posts of Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat in MGEL/ Computerization of Personnel Information System (CPIS) as proposed by the state Law department, the official source added.
It may be mentioned here that, the state cabinet in its meeting held on October 28 last month had considered and fixed the road-width of different roads in Greater Imphal in which the road width of Major District Roads (MDRs) had been fixed. Accordingly, planning and development authority, Manipur has issued notification on June 18, 2005 and August 31, 2006 in exercise of the power conferred under section 36 (1) of Manipur Town & Country Planning Act, 1975.
The official report further mentioned that, the chief engineer (PWD), Manipur submitted a proposal to secretary (PDA), Manipur for modification of road land width on August, 24 & 28 and September 16 last. In this regard, PDA Manipur constituted an expert committee to examine the proposal of PWD for widening of road and the said proposal was placed before the constituted expert committee on September 6 & 16 last, further recommendation of the expert committee was placed at the Authority (PDA Board) meeting held on October 5 last month and was approved by the authority.
On the other hand, as per the approved road widths by the (PDA Board) road land width along Singjamei Kongba road will increase to 30m from 20 m as fixed earlier, 20 m from 15m along the Khagempalli-Naoremthong road, 25m from 20 m along Chingamakha Heirangoithong road, 25m from 15m Khwairak Selungba road (Canteen road), 25m as fixed earlier along Nagamapal road, Khoyanthong to Kangjabi and Kangjabi Leirak to Maharani bridge, 25m from 30m along Lilashingkhongnangkhong to Fishery office and 30m along Fishery gate to DC office and 30m along Khongnang Ani Karak to Lilashingkhongnagkhong and 25 m along Lilashingkhongnangkhong to Khoyathong, thevery approved modification of road land width by the Authority (PDA Board) is waiting for the cabinet approval for the implementations, the official source added.
