IMPHAL, Dec 11: The Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) appealed to state education minister, cabinet ministers and MLAs to mount pressure on the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and other concerned higher authorities to ensure that teachers get their genuine demand.
In a statement the COTA said government teachers from primary to higher secondary level are on agitation which included cease work strike and relay hunger strike however the state government is yet to acknowledge their legitimate demand of implementation of 6th central pay commission.
The COTA noted that the Central Government in order to uphold the education system at par the globalization trend sanctioned a package of the 6th revised central pay commission for the teachers. Under the said revised structure the pay for primary teacher is 9300 rupees-grade pay 4,200, graduate teachers 9,300-grade pay 4,600 and post graduate teacher 9300-grade pay 4800 adding it appealed the education minister, cabinet ministers, local MLAs to mount pressure on the Chief Minister and the concerned finance Ministry ensure the teachers get their legitimate demand.
