IMPHAL, Jan 7: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) for appointment under die-in-harness scheme of riflemen has called 48 hours general strike from midnight tonight demanding the concerned authority to issue appointment letters for the 55 DPC successful candidates of Manipur Police.
Speaking to mediapersons today at Manipur Press Club, the spokesperson of the JAC, Md. Alimuddin stated that 55 candidates out of the total 77 have been declared successful in the DPC conducted under the chairmanship of CO of 2nd IRB, Radhashyam in 2008. However, even after two years of the declaration of the DPC the successful candidates have not been issued appointment letters.
The JAC has also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging him to issue the appointment letters as soon as possible but till now there is no positive response from the side of the state government, the spokesperson said.
The JAC appealed to the people to render utmost help and support to their legitimate demands and make the general strike successful. The general strike will be relaxed only for religious and essential services.
