Shillong, Jan 6(NNN): A day after the Khasi Students Union (KSU) has asked the nascent armed outfit of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) to release the abducted Khasi youth safe, the proscribed outfit, the Khasi militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) questioned the Garo outfit on the abduction.
While expressing concern over the abduction of the young Khasi businessman and coal dealer, Rimidu Sutnga, the HNLC wants to know the grounds for his abduction.
HNLC publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw in an email to the media houses on Wednesday last said, “If the abduction of District Transport Officer R Syngkon was for his corrupt practices, then what are the grounds for Sutnga’s abductionâ€.
Sending a warning to the Garo outfit, the HNLC spokesperson warned the GNLA of a possible revenge in the wake of the GNLA’s frequent attacks on fellow indigenous beings.“Do not push us to follow suitâ€, the Khasi outfit warned.
The HNLC publicity secretary while reacting to media reports about extortion activities embarked by members of the outfit at Borsora sought to clarify stating, “We have not empowered any member of the organization to carry such activity,†while adding, “We urge members of the public who come across such persons to desist from making any payment and at the same time alert us at the following email id: mawbyrsiew@gmail.comâ€. “The HNLC also urges leaders of the GNLA to release Sutnga forthwith so that the amicable relationship shared between the denizens of Hynniewtrep and the Garos that has remained for time immemorial is not disrupted,†affirmed Nongtraw.
