IMPHAL, Jan 31: Terming the Congress regime in the state as the reign of violence and corruption, the Trinamool Congress is all set to defeat the Congress candidate in the ensuing Konthoujam bye-election with intense political support from the MPP and BJP.
Addressing a joint press conference at the office of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee at Hotel Excellency, the president of state Trinamool Congress and former MP Kim Gangte stated that the like-minded parties of the state have formed a unified force along with MPP and BJP to teach the Congress a lesson in the ensuing Konthoujam bye-election.
She said that the people of the state have been suffering under the Congress government amidst degrading law and order situation. More issues culminate to intensify the grievances of the people rather than bringing development to the state.
The Konthoujam election will be an eye-opener to the people of the state to rise against corruption and ill-governance of the Congress Party, Kim asserted.
She further maintained that the Trinamool Congress is ready to go with any like-mined political party in the next general election to bring about good governance and development in the state right from the grass-root level.
The state president of BJP, Sh. Shantikumar Sharma stated that the BJP has decided to support the Trinamool Congress at the Konthoujam bye-election with the objective to oust the Congress government to end corruption and under-development in the state.
The Congress leaders have been siphoning huge funds for development of the state and there have instances of the Congress governments in North-East being involved in multi-crore scams which are now under the scanner of the investigative agencies, he noted.
The vice-president of MPP, Y. Mangi stated that India is the largest democratic country in the world but the present rule of corrupt leaders and goons of the Congress Party have tarnished the image of democracy in the state.
The people of Konthoujam should vote for the right candidate without any fear in the true spirit of democracy. The MPP has decided to support the Trinamool candidate K. Sarat so as to bring a change in the political scenario of the state, he stated.
The unified force of the non-Congress parties will help to bring a radical change in the state ending the reign of corruption and violence of the Congress Party, Mangi noted.
Meanwhile, the election observer of Trinamool Congress for the ensuing Konthoujam bye-election, KD Singh will arrive Imphal tomorrow and hold a political meeting at Sagoltongba Bazar.
