IMPHAL Feb, 8: A single bench of Justice Ashok Potsangbam of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench, has directed the Director General Police, Manipur to hold a written test for the 165 candidates who passed the Physical test for sub-inspectors and jemadars and yet to attend the written test due to communication lapses following a five-day strike of All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) which paralyzed the news publication, within a period of 45 days.
The court order further mentioned that until the written test is held as directed by court, the result should not be declared by the concerned.
The recruitment of the candidates, who participated in the written test held on January 2, 2011 for the appointment to the post of 243 Sub Inspectors and 49 Jamandars shall not be finalized without the leave of the Court.
In the meantime, while briefing in this regards Advocate Khaidem Mani disclosed that the advertisement for the recruitment was published on local dailies in month of April 2010, and further the last date of the form submission was on May 22, 2010.
The senior Advocate further mentioned that the total number of the candidate of Sub Inspector to be selected is 243, and the Jamandars is 49.
During the recruitment 1741 aspirant candidates were selected on Physical test for the said two post (SI and Jamandar respectively). The concern authority scheduled the written test first on December19, 2010 but later postponed it indefinitely.
Later the test was scheduled by the concerned authority during the striking period of the local media in connection with the arrest of Sanaleibak Editor, A Mobi, on January 2, 2011 and since then the 165 candidates could not be able to attend the test, added Khaidem Mani.
In this connection the 165 candidates had submitted a request petition to the state Chief Minister and DGP, for consideration and alternative arrangement however failure to respond on the part of the authority, O Premchand, Seizalal Haokip and Kh. Leninchandra file a petition to the Guwahati High Court.
