CM announces development projects for rural areas

IMPHAL March 29: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today attended a public meeting organized at Khordak,Laphupat Tera,Komlakhong.Speaking at the gathering, the CM stated that for better health benefits of the said areas, a health centre will be opened up to cater to the population and a water supply scheme will also be taken up.
He stated that the state government is trying to develop the rural areas of the state at par with the city with help and funding from the central government.
The CM clarified that he is aware of the problems that the public of Keibul Lamjao is facing due to the prohibition of fishing and passing trough the said ecological park. He maintained that since many endangered species of animals and birds inhabit the park, care and precaution must be taken to protect the habitat and the animals.
He stated that the government is considering effective measures to help the locals whose livelihood depends on fishing and farming.
He also announced that the deplorable road conditions will also be rectified and black topped at the soonest and a double lane bridge will be built above the Komlakhong river to connect Hiyanglam and Mayang Imphal.
To address the law and order situation at the areas, the CM further announced that a police out post will be erected at Sekmaijin and the Komlakhong primary school will be upgraded to junior high school status.
The CM  also inspected Changei Lampak, Ekop Pat, Ungamel, Khordak, Nongmaikhong, Sekmaijing and was accompanied by works minister K Ranjit, MPCB chairman E Dwijamani, MANITRON chairman Kh Ratankumar, MLA T Mangibabu, I Ibohanbi, M Prithiviraj and other officials.

Is Imphal a city? When we do not have basic things like proper potable drinking water supply, proper transportation system, communication system, electricity, irrigation etc. how can we call Imphal and other district capitals cities?
