IMPHAL, March 13: A retired havildar of the state police was today found hanging while a non local was mowed down by a speeding truck this morning. In the first incident a retired havildar of Manipur Police was found hanging from the ceiling of his own grocery shop located at Keithelmanbi Bazaar under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district.The victim has been identified as one Thokchom Chaotombi, 45, s/o Th. Mani of Kamong.
According to reports the person was found hanging by his neighbours this morning at around 10 am. Sources speculated that the victim might have hanged himself last night however the motive behind his action was unavailable.
The corpse of the victim was handed over to the family after post mortem.
Meanwhile, a non-local was knocked down by a truck, who died instantly this morning around 11 am at Chaarhajar under Kanpokpi sub-division, Sapermeina Police station.
The victim is identified as one Chandra Prasad, 49, s/o Durga Prasad of Turibari.
The deceased is a grade IV employee of the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Kangpokpi and also the chairman of Nepali Basti.
Later the truck bearing MNO1-7577 including the driver was detained by the police concerned.
