Arrested woman UG cadre trained at Burma: Police


IMPHAL June 3: Imphal West Police commandos had arrested a couple who are active members of the proscribed outfit UNLF from Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba area yesterday at around 4. 30 pm.

According to a release, the arrested individuals are identified as Urikhinbam Prema alias Thoi alias Linthoingambi, 24, d/o Pishak Singh of Samurou Awang Leikai (army number 2274) and Ningthoujam Abung alias Naoba alias Sunder,24, s.o Henbi Singh of Moirang Terakhongsangbi.

On verification they had disclosed that they have been working under the command of one Lambu, a s/s sgt maj of UNLF. Prema also disclosed that she joined the outfit in 2008 through one Nongmeikapam Abi alias Apabi, 30, of Samurou Awang Leikai and had been trained at Burma, the release stated.

The two arrested have been identified as husband and wife. One mobile handset was also seized from Premi, the release added.
In another incident, a police team of the Imphal East district arrested one KCP (KK Nganba) cadre from Khewa Bazar on June 1 at 7 am.

According to an official release, the individual has been identified as Wahengbam Surjit Singh s/o late Thoiba of Moirangkampu Khewa.

On verification he disclosed that he had joined the outfit in 2010 through one Inao who works in the finance section of the KCP.

On the same day, another cadre Nongthombam Joykumar alias Joy alias Nganba,40, s/o late N Kokil Singh of Chajing Karam Mayai Leikai was arrested from Kongpal Area. He disclosed on joining the outfit in 2011, February through one Ibomcha of Chajing Karam and to be involved in extortion and transportation of arms, according to the release.
