IMPHAL, July 20: The JAC for jail department has threatened to impose a 48 hour general strike in the state if the DPC result for the recruitment of various posts in the jail department is not declared by July 25.
The development comes in the wake of the 48 hour Moreh general strike called by Tamil Sangam which commenced from early morning today.
Talking to media persons during a sit in protest held today at Singjamei Chinga Makhong, the general secretary of the JAC, Thounaojam Roshan, said that the government of Manipur conducted a DPC for about 500 posts for the year 2008-09, in the jail department. He said the post include assistant jailor, head warden, cook, sweeper, electrician and barber.
The DPC result has not been declared till date despite repeated reprisal, said Roshan and added that the JAC has submitted memorandums twice to the Chief Minister to look into the matter.
Today’s sit in protest participated by DPC candidates was staged against the government’s failure to declare the DPC result, said Roshan. He informed that the candidates who faced the DPC will impose a general strike with immediate effect from July 25 evening if the government failed to declare the result by afternoon of the day.
