IMPHAL, July 17: The Central Committee of the proscribed UNLF has welcomed the recent formation of a coordination committee of seven different insurgent groups of the state with the objective of strengthening the liberation movement in the region.
A statement issued by the Central Committee stated that the coordination committee of KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF, UPPK and UNLF will take the revolutionary movement of the state to a new height.
It further lamented the failure of forming such committee before. It said that the KCP, PREPAK and RPF formed the Revolutionary Joint Committee (RJC) in 1992 and the Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF) was formed in 1999 by the RPF, PREPAK and UNLF. However, they could not have much impact on the liberation movement, it mentioned.
The statement further maintained that the UNLF and its armed wing MPA would render utmost support to the coordination committee so as to regain the lost independence of Manipur from the clutches of Indian colonialists.
