IMPHAL, Aug 21: All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) is going to observe the 46th Hunger Marchers’ Day on August 27 in remembrance of the dedication of lives of four students during the protest against the then government in the state on August 27, 1965 for causing artificial scarcities of the essential food items in the state.
According to a release of AMSU, during the students protest against the causing of artificial food scarcities on August 1965 four students identified as Promodini Devi, Chaobhal, Nabakumar and Nillamani were killed during the excessive security atrocities during their demonstrations.
The release further mentioned that, the union in order to observed the very day on August 27 appeal all sections of societies and common public to extend assistance to the AMSU by donating good or kinds for the successful observation of the day.
And the various district level committee of the union have also started their campaigns for the ensuing hunger marchers’ day observation in order to make conveniences for the students of various educational institutions and well wishers and common public of different districts of the state on August 27, the release added.
