UKHRUL, August 30: The academic careers of as many as 665 students of Ukhrul Higher Secondary school (UHSS) are hanging in balance due absent of full fledged Principal and Vice-Principal for more than one and half years coupled with acute shortages of teaching staffs.
Talking to media persons in this regards the principal in-charge, UHSS, R. Ringkahao, during a press conference said “It is a total humiliation that the government is neglecting its own institution”.
At present the institution is run by only 6 regular lecturers, 12 Part time lecturers and 9 Contract lecturers with their monthly salary fixed at rupees 4500 per month and 8000 respectively. But unfortunately the Contract basis staffs are not paid their honorarium for almost 13 months while the Part-timers for 8 months.
The failure of the authority concerned to pay pending salary has degraded the moral of the teachers for they are finding hard to meet the need of their respective families, the source disclosed.
At the same time, the four contract basis Laboratory Attendants contract basis in the school who are enjoying Rupees 5,740, are reportedly in the same condition.
The Principal in-Charge further asserted that the last regular Principal was transferred on January 2010 and the Vice- Principal who posted in the school in 2008 remained as Principal in-charge only for three months and till date the institution runs without a full-fledged Principal or Vice-Principal but the Senior Lecturer R. Ringkahao took the Charge of Principal from January 15.
The Part time and Contract basis lecturers on the pretext of not getting their salaries for several months has disrupted the academic session.
