IMPHAL, Sept 13: Taking serious note of the recent appeal of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) to its supporters to arm themselves to fight for what they called their rights, the state cabinet has today resolved to file an FIR against the leaders of SHDDC for their violent activities such as arson during the course of general strike and economic blockade.
The state cabinet has also directed the state home department to seize all licensed arms from Sadar Hills area and also to take up action against those who possess unauthorized arms and ammunitions.
Speaking to media persons after the cabinet meeting, spokesperson of SPF government, N Biren stated that the cabinet has resolved to file an FIR against the SHDDC leaders just to curtail the undemocratic activities and not to sideline the demand for Sadar Hills district.
He also appealed to the people to deposit their licensed arms to their nearest police stations to prevent any unwanted eventuality in Sadar Hills area.
The state government will also hold talks with Jiribam District Demand Committee on September 16, Biren noted.
The cabinet further approved the recruitment of 1236 primary teachers and 478 upper primary teachers on contract basis under Sarva Shikshya Abhiyan (SSA).
The candidates must be qualify themselves in the teacher eligibility test, he stated.
Kishan, who won Mr Asia title in 2009, will also be promoted to Jemadar of Manipur Rifles as per the resolution of the state cabinet.
The proposal for Rs. 58 crore for compensation to the people of Chadong and Lamlai Khunou affected by Thoubal Multipurpose project was also approved by the state cabinet today.
The cabinet also approved the appointment of three district employment officers of Imphal East, Ukhrul and Thoubal along with 12 other subordinating staffs.
The fast track court of the state will be not extended beyond February 2012 as per the resolution of today’s cabinet meeting.
