NPF convenes one day interface with public leaders of Senapati


IMPHAL, October 12: A one day interface of Naga People’s Front (NPF) with leaders of Senapati District was held today at Senapati Indoor Stadium organized by the Senapati unit of the NPF.

The interface was attended by Timikha Koza, vice president, NPF Joint Convenor Co-ordination Committee Manipur in-charge; T.N Mannen, IAS, advisor NPF, member, co-ordinator committee, Manipur-in charge, retired additional chief secretary, Government of Nagaland; Z.Lohe, former minister and speaker, political advisor to CM Nagaland, NPF member co-ordination committee, Manipur in-charge and G Gaingam president Naga People’s Front, Manipur State Unit.

While delivering his speech, T.N Mannen, said it was high time for the Nagas to identify its aspiration and seriously think over whom to vote for. It is also the distinct time for the Nagas to fight forces that are against the Nagas and to do so discipline and sense of sacrifice is must.

He further added that lack of common interest amongst the Nagas as the greatest advantage of the Nagas until they are under the Indian union.

He said the Nagas in the entire North eastern region should realize that NPF is creating a common platform and Nagas have an appointment with destiny.

The NPF if necessary would expand its manifesto and invite anyone who want to be with the Nagas or the groups suffering from socio-economic factors, further conveyed T.N Mannen.

Z. Lohe said that the NPF has every constitutional rights to expand the party throughout the entire nation. Subsequently, the party is likely to project a number of candidates in the Naga dominated areas of Manipur in the ensuing general election, he informed.

He said NPF belongs to all and it welcomes everybody to join the party. “Kangpokpi will remain as a neighbour of Senapati whatever happens to it and vice versa, only God can replenish its status”, he claimed.

It urged the people not to misconstrue the expansion of NPF in Manipur and the entire North eastern region. The Nagas should introspect what went wrong and asserted that the platform provided by the NPF is the only ‘one and last’ chance for the Nagas to come together and jointly fight the elections.

He opined that at the critical juncture for the Nagas to survive, the need of the hour is practical politics rather than political theories. “If there is no one to voice for us; a leader, it is impossible to fulfill our rights, said Lohe. He further termed the idea of some group of severing ties with the Manipur government and abstaining from contesting the election as meaningless.

Nagas have suffered enough in the struggle for sovereignty. The cease fire between NSCN-IM and GOI was welcome by the NPF and support it, for dialogue is the only solution but certain groups branded NPF as pro-NSCN-IM, said Lohe.

He conveyed that the NPF must also be branded as pro-NSCN-K, NNC or Federal for it also supported the other groups also and asserted that for the NPF these groups are equal as they are all Naga brothers.

G. Gaingam president NPF, Manipur state unit, said the moment of truth has come for the Nagas to standup and decide for their future. The Nagas thought that Naga Hoho was the common and complete platform, however there are times when civil bodies cannot act and requires political activitism, clarified Gaingam and added the platform provided by the NPF has been termed as a ray of hope for the Nagas for it’s over than 60 years of suffering.
