NEW DELHI, Dec 12 (agencies): The Assembly Elections due next year in five states could be held as early as February.
According to highly-placed sources, polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa could take place in February and the entire process would be over by first week of March.
The Election Commission, sources said, may announce the poll schedule soon.
While in UP Mayawati’s BSP is in power, Congress is the ruling party in Manipur and Goa. In Punjab, the BJP-SAD combine is in power while Uttarakhand has a BJP government.
