Chief Minister compliments Sainik School cadets for NDA success

IMPHAL December 2: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh paid a brief visit to Sainik School Imphal today. He was received by Major General Binoy Poonnen, GOC 57 Mountain Division, chairman LBA, Sainik School Imphal along with wing commander E Srinivas, major Anand Thoudam (Registrar), staffs and cadets.

The Chief Minister in spite of his hectic schedule ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit did not missed to felicitate and congratulate the UPSC written qualified cadets for entry to NDA 128 course, a press release said.

Further according to the release, the Chief Minister complimented the cadets for their outstanding performance wherein 18 out of 23 cadets qualified for the UPSC written examination.

While advising the cadets to put in hard work for success in the final selection, he congratulated the cadets and on the spot gave away cash prize of Rs 50,000 as a token of appreciation. In the course of interaction, the deficit infrastructural requirements of the school were projected by the GOC, the registrar and the cadets.

When projected the case of delay in the release of scholarship by the state govt, the Chief Minister promised that such a delay would not take place henceforth, the release further informed.

He further promised the cadets to construct a multipurpose indoor stadium, boundary wall for the entire campus, an additional dormitory and a school bus. He was also intimated of the shortage of staff. He further accepted to attend as the chief guest in the annual athletic meet to be held in the middle of December, the release added.

The Chief Minister who had visited the school on an earlier occasion of annual day had showered his endearing support to the school with renovations of dormitories, staff quarters, construction of a new dormitory, black topping of approach roads, water reservoir, dedicated power supply which have improved the quality of life in the school.

The school in return showed its mettle bringing the most coveted Defence Minister’s Trophy this year for sending the highest percentage of cadets to NDA. Y Joykumar Singh, DGP, Manipur who accompanied the Chief Minster also shared his thought and suggestions for the projections to be made to the government.
