IMPHAL, December 18: The state government has implemented various schemes in the state to improve the living condition of the minority sections of the society, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh during the observation of the Minority Rights’ Day today at Kangla Hall.
The observation was organized by the Manipur State Minorities Commission.
Further speaking at the observation, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is concerned with the upliftment of the minority communities and as such it is taking up various projects.
The existing SPF government will not allow any form of deprivation of minority rights in the state and and for that the government has introduced the reservation policy for the minority communities in terms of education and employment, which is still maintained by the state, the Chief Minister further added.
The minority communities have been able to benefit from such policies of the government, he further stated and added all minority communities should come out and take full advantage of the schemes.
Further acknowledging the inability of the state minorities commission to work properly, he stated that even though the state minorities’ commission was established with the main aim to look into the welfare of the minority communities, the commission has been unable to fully act due to lack of manpower and facilities. The Chief Minister further added that the government is trying to meet the shortcomings so as to enable the commission to become fully active.
He further added that the government has also decided to upgrade the state recognised Madrassas which provides education upto the high school level to higher secondary level and to include the expenditure in the state budget.
The Chief Minister further added that the government will organized awareness campaigns in the villages of the state so that the actual targeted communtiies may take full benefits from the schemes implemented by the state for their welfare.
State MOBC minister Md Alauddin Khan in his presidential speech welcomed the schemes of the government and further stated that the state government led by the Chief Minister O Ibobi has been able to implement various schemes for the welfare of the minority sections of the society.
It is through this schemes and projects that the living standards of the minorities have started to improved in the state, he added.
He further urged all communities to come out and take full benefit from the schemes.
The observation was also attended by MLA Lilong a/c Hellaluddin Khan and retd IAS and chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission A Helim Choudhury, members of the state commission MS Ningomba and N Devendra Singh as guests of honour.
