Congress keeps Northeast in dark age: Najma Heptulla

IMPHAL, December 10:  The national vice-president of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Dr Najma Heptulla has slammed the Congress Party saying that the party had done nothing significant in the Northeastern region during its 60-year rule in the country.

Dr. Heptulla who arrived Imphal today on a three-day visit stated this during a press conference held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.

She further stated that the government has done nothing for the youth of Manipur even as they have made the country proud, particularly in the field of sports.

The BJP vice president categorically made assertion that some anti-BJP people are deliberately trying to spread propaganda against BJP for what they say an anti-Muslim party which is totally wrong and destructive.

“My forefathers were used to work with Congress party but I joined BJP as I like the way the party works for the public”, she added.

Heptulla also earnestly appealed to the Muslim community of the State not to consider BJP an anti-Muslim party and said that they need to join and work with non-Congress parties for their betterment.

Buoyed by the joining of about 1,500 people from Thoubal district to BJP today, she expressed great hope for Oinam Indira Devi who is preparing to contest the forthcoming polls to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly in the Thoubal Assembly Constituency on the party ticket from where the present Chief Minster Okram Ibobi Singh won his seat.

Oinam Indira who was also present at the press meet said the love of the public is much more important than money and muscle power.

Heptulla was flanked by national BJP general secretary Tapir Gao and Manipur Pradesh BJP president Sh. Shantikumar during the press meet.
