CEO receives intimidation from Trinamool worker

IMPHAL, Jan 17:  The CEO of Manipur has been reportedly intimidated by a member of Trinamool Congress of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency.

Talking to IFP, the CEO-PC Lawmkunga, at the sideline of a workshop on “Systematic voter’s Education and Electoral Participation” held at Manipur Press Club today, disclose that he received a written note intimidating him alleging indulging in favouritism.

The CEO however did not disclose the exact content of the intimidation note.

Reacting on the threat, the CEO informed that he intimated the president of Trinamool Congress to give strong instruction to the individual to withdraw his note failing which he warned of dealing with the matter seriously. He clarified that genuine complaints have been received from various quarters and the same has been addressed in accordance though the pace of work may not be immediate reddressal. There is no favouritism indulged by the election commission or himself in any regard and appealed that the public and the political parties should acknowledge that the election staff has been discharging their duties to ensure the smooth polling process. He requested the political parties and public to refrain from any forms intimidation whether written or verbal intimidations, force against the election staff of the election office.

The CEO further asserted that the said individual who intimated him might not be acknowledged by the party itself, adding that the election office is trying to fulfil the aspiration of the people.
