IMPHAL, January 3: A meeting of the All Manipur Working Journalist Union and editors of the state convened a meeting at the Manipur Press Club this evening at around 5pm.
The meeting resolved to take out a rally on January 7 at 8am from Tiddim ground upto Manipur Press club and has further appealed the people of the state to support the said rally.
During the meeting it was also acknowledged that the government has provided security cover to state media houses and further resolved to appeal to the government to provide security cover to the remaining media houses.
The meeting further resolve that representatives of AMWJU and editors will meet the Chief Minister after his return to the state and apprise him about the difficulties faced by the media community at present.
Meanwhile it may be added that following the threat to media houses in the state, the state has started providing police commandos to media houses in the state capital.
