Ten years of SPF rule has been the dark decade of Manipur: BJP

IMPHAL, Jan 23: National general secretary of BJP, Kiran Maheshori lambasted the SPF government for neglecting the welfare of the people and raising the level of corruption during their rule in the last ten years.

She was speaking to media persons at a press conference at the party office at Nityapat Chuthek her today.

The former MP and current member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly had arrived yesterday to campaign for the party candidates at the ensuing assembly election and addressed rallies at Wangkhei and Khundrakpam constituencies for BJP candidates Dr H Borababu and I Mangiton.

Criticizing the Okram Ibobi government for its non-governance, she referred to the period of the last ten years under the Ibobi administration as the dark decade for Manipur. Manipur suffered a lot including the unavailability of essential commodities for long gaps during this period.

Not only that, Maheshori said, the education system in not functioning properly and there are few students attending government schools which proves the point.

The BJP leader accused the Congress of running an authoritarian and corrupted rule. As a result of their wrong practices, Manipur has become one of the most corrupted states in India, she said.

In comparison, she stated that BJP-ruled states like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have seen a lot of development. The tenure of the BJP at the centre also witnessed excellent governance, she stated.

She exhorted the people to replace the Congress party from the helm of power arguing that retardation in development from complacency results if the same party remains in power for long period and change is necessary for development.

The conference was also attended by A Sarda, vice-president, national mahila morcha of the party and Basanta, state media coordinator.

Maheshori left the state later today.
