Candidates want revocation of civil services examination

IMPHAL, Feb 4: Even if the Combined Manipur Civil Services (Mains) Examination, 2011 is scheduled to begin from February 6, many candidates want revocation of the examination amidst petitions filed to Gauhati High Court by different groups of candidates citing irregularities and malpractices in the prelims.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, some candidates who have filed a petition to Gauhati High Court stated that it would be inappropriate on the part of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) to hold the mains examination before the High Court gives its ruling. The hearing for their appeal is due on February 27.

Seven out of 200 questions asked in the prelims were found incorrect. The Gauhati High Court had earlier directed the MPSC to reevaluate the answer sheets of 11 petitioners by making necessary rectifications.

It may be mentioned that 725 out of about 6000 candidates cleared the prelims held last year. However, the candidates and some student bodies have brought out the mistakes in the questions and demanded re-examination of the prelims.
