New parking sites announced

IMPHAL, Feb 2: The directorate of transport has released a list of spaces in and around the commercial hub of Imphal city which have been declared as public parking places on a temporary and trial basis.

At the same time, RIMS road has been declared as a one-way traffic route from east to west with immediate effect.

The areas allotted for public parking are a space measuring 100m X 3.5 m on the southern roadside of Sagolband Road starting from the pharmacy upto the front of Aryan Theatre, the spaces in front of BJP office, electricity office and space measuring 50 m x 3.5m along the western road side of the Keshampat Junction ( Churanchanpur Prking), space available in and around Pologround Maning Parking, by-lane behind Kakhulon, Masjid Road stretch, stretch from Diamond crossing to Image Lab Shop, Governor Road, eastern  portion of th Naga Nallah, north of Babuthong earlier the Punshi Keithel, eastern side of Kalibari Temple, by-lane opposite of Gay Lord Hotel upto the entrance gate of Major Khul, the areas around Lalambung Pukhri on the north of Imphal Hospital, spaces in front of Adharsh Clinic, PWD and LIC along the NH-39, eastern side of Nagamapal Road and the two connecting by-lanes road from Pologround towards Governor Road to Leima Shopping Complex.

The director of transport, BK Sharma said in the statement that in order to facilitate picking and dropping of patients and persons accompanying them, two vehicles (two wheelers or light motor vehicles) will be allowed to be parked for a maximum duration of ten minutes in front of any establishment along the route. The establishments have to undertake an arrangement for a supervision mechanism for regulation of the parking with intimation to the directorate or the Imphal West district police authority.
