IMPHAL, March 1: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has expressed resentment and disapproval of the action of causing arson and destroying the control section of the hot mix plant installed at Puni Pfosemai Village along the NH-2 on the evening of February 28.

A release of the association stated that such irrational activities by those responsible to vent out their anger or authority sharply contrast the public outcry for better NH-2 condition. The SDSA urges all revolutionary groups or organizations to immediately cease all activities of harassing or disturbing the on-going NH-2 black carpeting works between Senapati to Mao stretch.

It may be noted that, the damaged machinery are purely installed for NH-2 black-carpeting works near the highway. But much to the dismay of the public’s interest, the recent destruction of the hot mix plant has created huge setback to the work agency, contractors, labuorers and most importantly to the on-going works for completing the works during the dry season.

It is well known to every general public that, the NH-2(formerly NH-39) since 2007 has been in pathetic condition and that the SDSA has been crusading for improving the said Highway. Numerous forms of agitations, MoUs, reminders, agreements, public statements were initiated which eventually in 2010 the Union Government agreed to release funds for developing and repairing the said National Highway, for which the on-going works along the NH-2 are implemented during the dry seasons. But the recent incident has seriously hampered the on-going works.

Therefore, the SDSA in general public interest urges to all the concerned revolutionary groups to immediately cease all activities targeted against on-going NH-2 works agency or labourers.
