Contradictory complaints cause confusion in Mayang Imphal death

IMPHAL, April 1: A man identified as Md Aboi alias Abdul Mallik, 23 son of Abdul Latiff of Phoubakchao Heibong Yangbi was killed by a mob at Mayang Imphal Konuma Hiyangkhong under Mayang Imphal Police Station today with two contradictory complaints being lodged at the concerned police station.

According to a complaint made by Amjad Ali, 60 of Mayang Imphal Konuma Hiyangkhong, during the night of March 31 at around 8pm, four armed miscreants barged into his home and demanded money threatening him and his family with dire consequence otherwise.

Amjad Ali immediately screamed for help at which his neigbours and locals of the area came out, Amjad Ali stated in his complaint, the police source informed.

Furthermore, seeing the locals and neigbours, they tried to escape from the place, however the locals nabbed Md Aboi and started beating him, Aboi died at the spot. His other three accomplices shot some rounds from a small firearm while making good their escape, the complaint stated, according to the police. A toy gun was also found from near Aboi’s dead body, the complaint added.

Meanwhile, the police has also informed that family members of dead Aboi has made another complaint to the police alleging that Aboi was killed by a group of Konuma Hiyangkhong locals while he was on his way to deliver his customary Mahr.

Police informed that, Md Rahimuddin, uncle of the victim in his complaint has alleged that Aboi along with his brother had gone to deliver Rs 50 thousand as his customary Mahr for his bride’s at Konuma Hiyangkhong.

Further according to the complaint, on reaching Konuma Hiyangkhong, a group of people led by one Md Asharaf Ali, 30, Md Jalim, 35, Md Alimuddin and Md Amdali approach them and took Aboi away while Alif Khan managed to escape from them. He was later killed stated the complaint, the police source further informed.
