IPT on functioning of Manipur Human Rights Commission

IMPHAL, April 12: The Human Rights Law Network (Manipur) in association with other 12 NGOs is organizing a one day `Independent People`™s Tribunal on functioning of Manipur Human Rights Commission` on April 14 at the conference hall, Institute of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat, Imphal.

According to a statement of HRLN, the objective of the tribunal is to streamline and strengthen the Commission to function as effective, efficient, transparent and accountable institution that addresses human rights violations.

Further it also stated that during the IPT, various victims who had approached the Manipur Human Rights Commission and could not get a favorable result will deliver their testimonies. Apart from hearing of testimonies by the panel of eminent personalities, a number of experts will deliver their critiques of the state of affairs of the Manipur Human Rights Commission it added.
