IMPHAL, April 29: Community Health Centre (CHC), Sugnu is now on the verge of closure as the lone health centre in the area is not functioning well due to shortage of doctors.
The health centre was functioning smoothly with 10 doctors before, but now it has only one doctor since the rest of them have been transferred or on leave, P Ibocha, Chairman of Sugnu Municipal Council told the media at the Manipur Press Club here on Sunday.
He further said the Community Health Centre is now in a defunct state as its OPD has stopped service and the people residing in the area are now facing serious problem due to non-availability of emergency service at the centre.
People in the area also suffer from lack of sufficient supply of potable water, electricity and many others, the chairperson further added, while appealing the concerned authorities to look after the matter at the earliest.
