2 quotas in a month

IMPHAL, May 29: MLA Kh Joykishan of Thangmeiband has charged the Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution officials of gross misappropriation of rice and kerosene.

Talking to media persons at his Thangmeiband residence today MLA Joykishan said, PDS items which should have been allocated to him has been usurped by agents of ex MLA Radhabinod Koijam.

The rice quota for the constituency per month amounts to 967.14 quintals and 20,320 litres of kerosene.

Joykishan mentioned that the PDS items had been taken from the supply depot on March 23 and 26 by workers of his political rival.

“The items have not been distributed to the public also”, he said.

When he complained to the Imphal West DC, a bill was prepared and another batch of rice was given to the MLA.

“How can this happen, two quotas for the same month,” a visibly surprised Joykishan appealed to the concerned minister to look into the matter.

He said that the godown officials at Sangaiprou asked him to arrange his own transport for the rice, and further to pay for the loading which in fact was their responsibility.

The allocation for wheat and flour have which have never been provided by the department has also been demanded by Joykishan, the reason for non provision should be given by the Imphal West DC tomorrow, he said.

Assuring effective PDS system in his constituency, the MLA stated that the rice quota for March will be distributed in four centers from tomorrow onwards.

MLA Joykishan also announced a donation of Rs 10,000 to M Sapna of Lamlongei who singlehandedly brought up her siblings while also obtaining letter marks in the recent matric results.
