IMPHAL, May 2: The Chingai Block Congress Committee has appealed to all the concerned higher authorities to exempt the beneficiaries in the hill areas particularly Ukhrul district from the subsequent guidelines for opening bank account for all the beneficiaries in regard to the old age pension and assistance to the widows and physically handicapped person.
A release of the committee said that 90 percent of the beneficiaries are from far flung villages where there is no proper road communication and also the beneficiaries being aged, disabled and widowed, it is not practicable to come to the district HQ (which has only two banks) to draw the said scheme.
Further, the committee has also appealed the concerned authorities to look into the matter regarding irregularities in distributing of essential commodities under PDS in Ukhrul district and ensured immediate steps necessary to initiate in delivering of rice and SK oil for the people living Below Poverty Line.
