IMPHAL, May 30: Thoubal police today recovered a hand grenade from the residence of a school teacher at Moijing Awang Leikai under Thoubal Police Station.
The bomb, which was planted by suspected militants, was found in the courtyard of one Md Nasimuddin, aged 48, son of late Jamaluddin. Nasimuddin is an assistant teacher of a school in Tamenglong district.
Police said the motive behind the bomb threat is yet to be ascertained. A police bomb squad team retrieved the bomb and defused it later in an open field, they added.
Moijing Awang Leikai residents staged a sit-in-protest against the bomb threat.
