IMPHAL, May 31: An identity stone of R Rashong who recently took oath as the chief of Longa Koireng village was laid on Thursday at the village.

R Rashong was recognized as the chief of Longa Koireng village by the state government about eight years before but the formal announcement to the public in this regard was made only today, said AMUCO in a statement.

Besides a team led by AMUCO president KT Rahman, leaders of different communities residing in the surrounding areas of Longa Koireng village and AC in-charge of 1st Manipur Rifles station at Dolaithabi Barrage were also attended the event.

Leaders from Koireng community elaborated on the co-existence between the Koireng and indigenous and historical land of Manipur since olden times.

AMUCO on the other hand, detailed on all the woes that have been faced by all the indigenous communities in Manipur, asserting that big communities would not be allowed to marginalize small communities.

All the communities in the state had shed blood equally in the process of shaping the present Manipur, AMUCO pointed out, adding that now incitement by the government  against the communities to make them claim their own separate boundaries is visible since Manipur merged into the Indian Union.

Appealing to all the communities to counter the menace of communalism together, AMUCO stressed such move is the real path of developing together.
