IMPHAL, May 30: The Manipur people’s Party (MPP) today said the party will support the Bharat bandh imposed by NDA led by the BJP in collaboration with Left parties in protest against the recent petrol price hike tomorrow.
The all India bandh call given by the NDA and Left parties against the recent steep petrol price hike is “all for the people” of the country, MPP senior leader and vice president S Umananda told IFP.
He, however, said the regional party will extend only moral support to the protest as the party is not a part of either NDA or the Left.
The petrol price was increased by Rs 7.50 a liter with effect from midnight of May 23.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Manipur Pradesh, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress and Janata Dal (United), Manipur State unit in separate statements have also appealed the general public to support the country wide strike called by NDA and Left parties to protest the price hike.
