IMPHAL, June 16: A cabinet meeting held today at the Chief Minister’s secretariat discussed on the modalities of the upcoming Panchayat elections.
Education minister M Okendro stated that the tentative date for announcement of the electoral roll and other related notifications may fall on June 28.
The cabinet also discussed the modalities of bifurcating locations presently falling within autonomous district council to be re administered under panchayat jurisdiction. The issue of Kanglatongbi zilla parishad to be given recognition under Khurkhul zilla parishad was also discusses in the meet.
Further, approval for instituting 9 residential schools in each district of the state to cater a hundred students, and to create 130 related posts for administration of the schools was approved by the cabinet.
