IMPHAL, June 6: Due to indiscrimination of dumping soil which was dug out by the Railway Department for its railway line construction were brought down by the rain water which makes the river water muddy that threatens the life of fishes and its habitation, said PCNR release.

It has further said that while constructing the approach roads the Railway Department used heavy machineries to cut the hills and did not care for the proper dumping of soil, as a result during the rain the surrounding areas like wet paddy fields, jhum farm, kitchen gardens and even houses etc. were submerged by mud brought down by the rain water.

Taking serious note of the environment impacts of the above circumstances, the PCNRO has appealed the concerned department to take up alternative means/pre-caution measures for proper management of soil erosion/dumping of the soil at an early date.

Less the PCNRO is compelled to take up proper action against the Department with the support of the affected peoples, it added.
