IMPHAL, June 30: The state Health Commissioner Moses Chalai today conveyed a press conference clarifying over the controversy surrounding the result of the Manipur MBBS/BDS entrance examination, 2012.
Speaking to media persons at the MACS Hall R&D Wing, Medical Directorate, Lamphel said that everyone should accommodate the June 23 result as the official and final result.
He also said that the state moderators and the outside question setters M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai will not be included from next year.
He said that in other states, results of medical exams are declared after a gap of two three days from the date of exams, however in Manipur, the results are declared on the next day of the exam and in the haste of meeting the timeline, sometimes mistakes cropped up.
Elaborating on the issue he said the directorate had invited applications for rechecking/complaints till June 18. The directorate however received only two applications regarding a question in Physics, whereby they pointed out that the key answer of the department was wrong.
Moses Chalai, who is also the Chairman selection board continued that on further examination of the coomplaints an advertent mistake had occurred in a question of Physics related to key answer of Q no 10, 20, 5 and 25 of Series code A,B,C,D respectively, which was committed by both the state moderators and outside question setters of Physics.
Both the original question setters and state moderators admitted the mistake and agreed that the answer to the particular question should be ‘C’ instead of ‘B’.
Clarifying on the result released on June 22, he said the M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai was asked to revise the result after both the original question setters and the state moderators admitted to the mistake.
After the M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai submitted its revised result on June 22, a revised result of the Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination was published in the official website of the directorate on the same day.
Further on June 23, the M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai uploaded another revised result while informing the directorate that the correction of the Physics was not applied due to programmatic error to the nswer papers of Series D, in the above revised result.
The final revised result of the Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination, 2012 was made public on June 23 as submitted by the M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai, he clarified.
When asked if the directorate will take any action on the erring M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai and the state moderators, he replied that both the M/s Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd Mumbai and the state moderators would not be included from next year.
He further assured the general public that the selection board is sincere in its duty and the public should not be disheartened at all.
