IMPHAL, June 19: Days after the Works Minister Dr Khumukcham Ratankumar Singh travelled on the Pallel-Moreh stretch of the highway, the road conditions have considerably improved saving travel time for traders and officials alike.

It may be recalled here that, the Works Minister had travelled on the highway on May 25 and 26 along with a host of PWD officials.

Dr Ratankumar had earlier inspected the Imphal-Dimapur road and the Jiribam highway.

Briefing the media after his visit the Minister had expressed satisfaction on the overall condition of the Pallel-Moreh stretch of National Highway 39 with reservations on the work progress of the 30 km sector from Lokchao to Moreh.

He had then instructed the firm Avantika charged with the said portion to at least mend the potholes properly before monsoon sets in.

A travel on the highway a few days ago saw qualitative improvement on the highway including that of the Lokchao-Moreh sector, even though the speed breakers and barriers in front of the security checkposts are still there against the instruction of the state PWD.

The travel time from Imphal to Moreh takes at the maximum 3 hours inclusive of the delay at the various checkposts.
