Sectoral allocation under SPA revised

IMPHAL, June 20: Sectoral allocation of different departments and work agencies under the SPA has been revised recently.

The most visible changes in the sectoral allocation is the decrease in allocation for Manipur Development Society, MDS and increase for Works department.

The IFP had reported that out of the Rs 450 crore allocation in SPA, the MDS had been allocated Rs 145 crore for both ongoing and new projects while the works department had been allocated a total of Rs 126.43 crore.

As of now out of the Rs 500 crore revised allocation for SPA, the allocation for MDS stands at a mere Rs 80 crores for both ongoing and new projects.

Sources informed that ongoing projects of the agency under the SPA include Tribal Areas inclusive growth infrastructure project in 10 blocks, while the new projects include construction of urban Hat at Imphal and another Tribal areas inclusive growth infrastructure project in 17 blocks.

It is also learnt that the Works Department has been given an allocation of Rs 161.43 crores under the revise SPA allocation.

While the last allocation for Works Department was only for ongoing projects, the new revised allocation has also included for new projects.

Ongoing projects under the Works department include Capital Project and construction for Mini-Secretariats in district hqs, while upgradation for various roads in both hills and the valley districts to provide connectivity has been added with an allocation of Rs 60 crore.

The health sector has been provided with an allocation of Rs 100 crores for infrastructure development of JNIMS, while the Power department has been provided with Rs 8.75 crores for both ongoing and new projects.

Mentioned may be that the Planning Commission had approved a Plan size of Rs 3500 crores for 2012-13.
