CPI launches month long movement

    IMPHAL, July 2:  To check the current issue of lack of electricity, unavailability of safe drinking water, price hike in petrol, the Communist Party of India ( CPI) Manipur has launched a month long movement from Sunday onwards following a meet held at Rupmahal Theater. Addressing a press meet, CPI general secretary N Nara stated that Manipur is stricken with crisis’s in one form or the other and the state Government is unable to bring any amicable solution.

    Blaming the public for not paying the electricity bills is an excuse of the government. He said that it is rather the department’s failure while adding that it the duty of the department to collect bills from the public. Moreover, the  state government  also fails to provide safe drinking water to its public  nor has it come up with a proper policy or solution for the drought season ,he said.

    Bandhs, blockades are common in Manipur, but the root cause is generated from  within the government itself, he announced that the  CPI movement includes making available 35 kgs of rice to each family at rate of Rs 2 per Kg.

    Nara further said, crime rates of the state has become alarmingly high and crime against women is becoming more frequent because of the misgovernance and ineffective policing.  He concluded on the note that this movement of the CPI will carry on till August to reach every corner of the state.
