IMPHAL, July 23: Khangjrakpam Shyamkumar Singh, owner of the excavator (TX-760/JCB/L&T) which was burned on July 19 at 9:30am by suspected NSCN (K) cadres at Makhingpang gorge along the Taobam to Punglan IVR, Tamenglong has today clarified on the issue.
A press statement of the Voluntary Organization for Peace, Integrity & Development co-signed by its secretary and excavator owner said the excavator was rented by one Saihiamlong Golmei, 40 son of Sangbamang Golmei of Langkhong, Tamenglong district for the construction of the IVR.
It continued that according to reports of the excavator driver, Saihiamlong Golmei, village authority chairman and the excavator owner himself, there were no previous threats or any form of monetary demand or warnings.
The statement while lamenting the action has further urged the concerned authorities to look into the issue and take appropriate action against the perpetrators.
