IMPHAL, July 23: The Psychiatry Ward of RIMS is becoming more of a “garbage dump” with no proper infrastructure, stated president of All Manipur Women Democratic Front, Ch Memcha.
The members of All Manipur Women Democratic Front along with a media team visited the psychiatry department today. The members were President Ch Memcha, Vice President S Modhubala and treasurer M Dheinabati.
The department has a capacity for 30 patients. At present there are 10 patients out of which one was female and the remaining nine are male patients.
President All Manipur Women Democratic Front Ch Memcha stated that the departments of hospital must be clean and hygienic. Hospital is a place where people come for treatment and so the wards must be perfectly hygienic.
She appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and do the needful as soon as possible. She said that they will intensify their movement if the authorities failed to carry out their demand.
She lamented the negligence of the doctors of the psychiatry department for not supplying the needful facilities to the patients like drip set. Even water was sold to the patients at Rs 5 per tin.
The women front showed the media in and around of the wards. They showed the stagnant water in front of entrance gate and around the building, the overgrown grass around the building, the dirt scattered nearby the department.
Vice President of the front S Modhubala said that the doctors of the department need to coordinate with their demand for the betterment of patients.
