IMPHAL, July 20: Minister Francis Ngajokpa has promised holistic development of Tadubi constituency at his best level. The minister in charge of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj said at a function held at Maram Khullen community hall today.
The minister oversaw the connective road leading to Maram Khullen from NH-2 which has a distance of about 7 km and later held an interactive session with the villagers at the said location and addressed the grievances faced by the residents of Maram Khullen at present.
Maram Village Authority highlighted the predicament of the village to the minister in the form of a memorandum and urged him for the necessary up gradations at the interactive program. Many village elders delighted at the visit of the minister approached him on stage and voiced their concerns. The minister also reciprocated the villagers of Maram Khullen.
It was mentioned by Francis that the area has significant historical importance and has a niche of its own in various fields. “Maram Khullen is the second largest village according to reference from the British war journals. A Maram women was also married to a Meitiei prince, according to historical accounts”, he added that commitment has been given to the village for bringing up the status of the village at par with the rest of Senapati district.
He said that the scarcity of water has been an issue since time immemorial and more acute during the winter season. It was committed that construction of a water supply scheme would be urged to the concerned minister after identification of a water source and funds would be made available from the NLCPR. The Maram Junior High School will also be upgraded to High School status and the inter village road connectivity will be black topped. He also assured of augmenting the transformer for better power supply. A sum of Rs 1 crore has also been earmarked for the village development under the SPA.
Francis mentioned that development is assured for the historic village but the human values and tradition maintained by the Maram villagers should be further inculcated to the younger generation. “Besides development, moral values is the most important heritage, one should have trust and love for another”, he stressed.
The village elders and widows were provided blankets by the minister. In his maiden visit after getting cabinet status, the villagers awarded a warm welcome to Francis.
